Beauty Blurbs: Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Standout

0

Howdy friends! I’m back today with a review of another Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm. After searching far and wide (ok, just Walmart & Ulta), I finally got my hands (well hand…it’s not that giant) on a tube of Standout. I totally fell in love with Sultry, so I was psyched to finally find this color to try!

1

This is a classic, beautiful red. I’ve looked for and tried other red lipsticks before, and I find that so many are either a coral red or a pinky red or an orangey red, but not just a true, RED. Yes, I know that sounds dumb. Trust me though. Go look for a true red lipstick, and you’ll see how hard it is to find! First world problems, I know.

2

As I said before, I love the Revlon Matte Balms. Between these and the Balm Stains, Revlon is quickly becoming the holy grail of lip products for me! The Matte Balm is matte (duh), highly pigmented, and very long-lasting. It does tend to sink into cracks and crevices on your lips and is obviously not moisturizing. Make sure your lips are smooth and moisturized before enjoying these rich, beautiful shades.

3

BAM. Did I tell you, or what? A true, classic red! Love it! I know it’s kind of bold, but I’ve been wanting to try red lips for quite awhile. Standout Matte Balm sealed the deal for me.

4

Don’t commit to this color if you don’t want it on for a LONG TIME. Seriously, today, I ate pigs in a blanket, went to church, drank water, took a nap, and ate chipotle over a span of several hours, and this stuff DIDN’T BUDGE. And no, I wasn’t eating super awkwardly trying to avoid messing up my lipstick or anything. I reapplied once to the inner area of my lips just to ensure the color remained even, but it really wasn’t necessary.

5

I kept my eye makeup simple, so Standout could be…uh…the standout.

6

The one small issue I did have was some bleeding around the edges of my lips. I think that’s pretty typical of several lipsticks, but it’s still a pain. I may invest in a “clear” lipliner and use that underneath as I’ve heard that eliminates bleeding and increases wear. Worth a shot!

7For good measure, here are a few shots of me looking like a fool trying to take pictures…ridiculous. 😉 All for y’all. Get your own tube of Standout here!

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Romantic

0

Hey y’all! Today I wanted to do a quick review of another Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain. I already sang the praises of Honey and Crush, so I picked up Romantic on my last trip to Ulta assuming I’d love it just as much. Unfortunately…I didn’t. I gave it a whirl this morning as I was leaving to go babysit. I felt like a showgirl…this was definitely not the best morning babysitting look. The things I do for y’all.
1

The outside of Romantic’s tube made me think it was going to be a rich cranberry red with tons of color like the other balm stains. However, Romantic was more like (shocker) a balm stain. It was kind of sheer and shiny without as much pigmentation as some of the other shades. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised because it does fit the bill as a balm stain, but it really differs from my other shades.
2

It looks thick in my pictures, but I can assure you it was pretty sheer. There was definitely a good amount of color, but Romantic wasn’t as vibrant as Crush for sure. It was also slightly pinker than I was expecting. The wear was comparable to Crush and Honey, but Romantic may have worn off slightly quicker. I think the more sheer color caused less of a stain to remain on my lips as well. Although I do like how it looks in my natural light pictures, I decided to return this shade to Ulta today. It definitely looks better in my pictures than it did in person. At least Ulta has an awesome return policy!

3

For someone looking for more of a sheer balm-like lip product, I would say go for Romantic. I wasn’t a fan, but the color was pretty, and I could see others liking it for sure. If you think you’d like it, grab a tube of Romantic here! I was able to pick up another Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm to try today, so hopefully I can review that soon! I also have some new eyeliners, eyeshadows, and primers to review too! Lots of Beauty Blurbs coming your way!

And, to round out this post, some more super awkward pictures of me. Enjoy!

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Sultry

0

Hey y’all! I’ve been trying to get my hands on some of the new Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms, but they’re so popular I can never find the colors I’ve been wanting! I had my heart set on Standout, which is supposed to be “the perfect red.” Every time I looked, it was nowhere to be found! I think it was a blessing in disguise though, because I wound up buying Sultry instead, and I love it!

1

It’s a much more everyday color, so I think I’ll get a lot of wear out of it. I snagged mine for $8.99 at Ulta, and it’s one of 10 colors you can select from. Sultry is super pigmented, so the color comes out nice and rich. It also had a slight, refreshing, minty smell.2

My one con is that the Matte Balm isn’t very balm-like at all. According to the website, “Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm offers velvety color with balm-like moisture.” First of all, I don’t think a color can be velvety? Secondly, I definitely didn’t feel a balm-like moisture. It actually sort of dried out my lips. It wasn’t too terrible, but I may try layering it with gloss or over some chapstick in the future. It sank into all my lip cracks and crevices, so maybe a lip primer would work as well?3

Overall, the color was great. It was sort of a punched up “natural” lip color like Honey but with a little more “oomph.” The wear time is pretty good, too. I’d say it lasted me about 4-5 hours before eating. After, I ate dinner, I definitely had to reapply. I wouldn’t say that’s unexpected though…especially since the Revlon Matte Balm doesn’t claim to be long-wearing. 4

I definitely want to buy a few more colors if they ever aren’t all sold out! And, just to round out this post, here are some real awkward pictures of me. The life of a wannabe blogger isn’t ALL glamour. Enjoy! Get your own tube of Sultry here

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain – Crush Review

0header

Today, I wanted to do a review of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in the color Crush. I sang Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain’s praises before when I reviewed the color Honey. Several months ago, I also picked up a tube of the balm stain in the color Crush. Crush is much more bold than Honey, and I have been getting tons of wear out of it during the fall and winter months.1indoorlightnoflash

In some lighting it appears more pinky-red, and it some lighting it appears more cranberry or burgundy colored.2indoorlightwithflash

The Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains have great pigmentation and apply smoothly. I love how they can really bump up a simple makeup look. 3flashnoflash

I made sure to include several pictures with different lighting to show the versatility of this balm stain. I love that it’s a balm and a stain combined because it’s really moisturizing unlike some long-wearing lip products. Typically when I get stains they really dry out my lips and crack quickly. Not worth the convenience of fewer applications. That’s so not the case with Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.4naturallightnoflash

This product seriously lasts forever on my lips! I think the Crush color definitely has more “staying power” than Honey. This could be simply because it’s darker, or because it’s more heavily pigmented.5both

It could be my imagination, but I think Crush makes my teeth look a little whiter, too! Every little bit helps, right?6goofysmile

I applied Crush before I ran errands all day, and took a picture to show how well the balm stain lasts. I had eaten cereal, drank water, run errands, and not reapplied once! When Honey wears off on me, it leaves a sort of lipliner effect. That wasn’t the case with Crush! It appeared to wear off equally all over my lip, which was great.
7hourslaterAt under $8 at most retailers, you can’t beat the price and quality of Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. You can also get them online, here! They have so many color selections, so there’s something for every lip color and occasion! I’d definitely recommend picking one (or two…or six) up next time you see them on display! I’m hoping to acquire more colors soon!

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain – Honey

BeautyBlurbs

I love buying and trying new makeup. The only problem is I have trouble justifying spending lots of money on it just to go to Target or sit in my office where I only interact with warehouse workers. However, I’ve been hearing a lot about Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain , so I decided to give it a try. I researched it a lot first to decide which color I should purchase.

Swatches of several different color options...

While I liked Crush and Romantic (as well as Adore, which is not pictured), I ultimately decided Honey was a safe, neutral option for a first sample. I found Honey at Target for only $7.49 (minus .05% since I used my Target Red Debit Card :)) and tried it out for work the following Monday.

Here is what Honey looks like on me immediately after application:

As you can see, it is basically my natural lip color slightly enhanced. It was very moisturizing like a lip balm. It did rub off a little bit onto my cup, but the color lasted throughout the morning until I went to lunch. After lunch, I reapplied and took some more pictures outside to show the color.

I know I look like a tool in this picture, so sue me.

After lunch, the color lasted at least another 4 hours until dinner. Overall, I’m very pleased with this purchase. When first applied, the balm is very moisturizing. It did slightly dry out my lips once the balm wore off, but the stain stayed on. I think applying Chapstick or clear gloss over the remaining stain would have worked as well as reapplication. The one major downfall is the inner area starts wearing off first, so I was left sort of looking like I only applied lipliner once this happened.

However, the pros definitely outweighed the cons for me, and I want to try out some other colors soon. Hopefully, I can build up the courage try something brighter like Crush this summer!

I would definitely recommend Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm+Stain to anyone who is looking to try a new lip treatment. They have a great range of colors (12) that will flatter all skin tones, and they’re inexpensive enough that you won’t feel guilty for trying out a few different shades!
