Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor in Always Sienna

Fall is upon us, which means it’s the perfect time of year for warm, neutral lip products! I mean, I suppose they’re perfect year round, but they feel especially appropriate this season! revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-1

The Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor in Always Sienna is the perfect fall shade. It’s a warm, mauve shade with slight brown tones.
revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-2

The Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolors are dual ended lip products that include the lipcolor on one end and a clear gloss on the other. The lipcolor has a doefoot applicator, and the lipgloss has a brush applicator. revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-3

According to the directions, you’re supposed to apply the lipcolor first, wait for it to dry, and then apply the gloss on top. In theory, you shouldn’t need to apply the color again, but you can add more gloss as needed.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-4

I applied the lipcolor first (as instructed), and I hated the texture! It felt so sticky and tight on my lips, so I assumed I would hate it regardless. However, once it dried, I applied the gloss on top, and it made a world of difference! With the gloss layered over the lipcolor, it adds moisture back into your lips, and takes away any feelings of discomfort the lipcolor causes. Apparently the gloss contains chamomile and soy extract to help moisturize the lips.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-5

I’m normally not a gloss person. I love how it looks, but I hate how my hair gets in it and, inevitably, smears it across my face. That is definitely just a personal preference though, and has nothing to do with the quality of the product. 🙂 Also, the gloss eventually wears off with this product, leaving you with just a non-sticky beautiful lip color.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-6

I love the shade of Always Sienna, and I was AMAZED at the staying power! Revlon claims the product can stay on up to 16 hours, and I’d believe it. It stayed put on me through eating and drinking for at least 12 hours. It isn’t transfer proof, but the color was still totally visible after all that time.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-7

The gloss wore off quicker than the color, but even when it wore off, the moisturizing components helped my lips feel comfortable. I chose not to reapply the gloss because I preferred the demi-matte look of the lipcolor without having to deal with my hair getting stuck to my lips. 🙂revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-8

During that time I didn’t notice any feathering or bleeding, which was impressive. Glosses usually slip and slide around my lips and always bleed. Perhaps since the lipcolor sets first, it helps prevent feathering. revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-9

Overall the formula is very unique, and I’m pleased with the color payoff and wear time. If you have extremely dry lips, you may want to avoid this product. I think the lipcolor setting down may bother you too much, but otherwise give this product a try. They have almost 30 colors to choose from, so there’s something for everyone!

Wet n Wild Megaglo Illuminating Palette in Catwalk Pink

wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-1

Contouring, Highlighting, Strobing, and more are all the rage right now! Everyone seems to love piling on the shimmer until they’re almost blinding others. AND I’M TOTALLY ON BOARD. However, so many highlighters are crazy expensive, so I was psyched to find this wet n wild megaglo Illuminating Palette for only $4!wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-2-5

The pan is HUGE and contains 4 different shimmering powders. From left to right it includes a light gold, a pinkish white, a rosy pink, and a bronzy tan. Each strip is a little under an inch wide, so you get tons of product.wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-2

As you can see, this palette works wonderfully as a highlighter. I used a blend of the two left shades on my under-eye, cheekbone, forehead, and the bridge of my nose. I also use the rosy pink as a blush. All together they help brighten my face, hide dark circles, and blur imperfections.wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-3

I love that the colors can be worn alone or blended depending on your goals or skin tone. The palette color name is Catwalk Pink, which I think is misleading, since only half of the shades have pinkish tones.wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-4-5

I have also used the two left shades as highlighters on my brow-bone and inner eye corner, and they blend beautifully.  wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-4

Since I am very fair-skinned, these shades really pop on my face. They are pretty pigmented though, so I think they would flatter anyone!
wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-5-5

I love this illuminating palette because it adds an iridescent shimmer without making my face look oily. Some highlighters go a bit over the top, and the result is a greasy-looking face! No, thanks. wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-5

At times I wish the palette had a bit more glow, but for five bucks, I can’t complain too much. However, since I’m already complaining, I also wish the colors were a bit more separated. When I use the pink shade as a blush, it’s difficult to maneuver my blush brush without coating it with the other colors as well. But, like Tim Gunn suggests, I “make it work.”wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-6-5

I know several people tend to swirl all of the powders together for a beautiful shimmery look, so I suppose to palette set up is perfect for that! wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-6

Swiping this palette on my cheekbones is my favorite part! To me, that’s where the shimmer pops most, along with the bridge of my nose.

If you’re anxious to try out the contouring world, or just add a bit of luminescence to your makeup routine, I can’t recommend the wet n wild megaglo Illuminating Palette enough!  wet-n-wild-megaglo-illuminating-palette-in-catwalk-pink-8

wet n wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Plaid to the Bone

wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-0

I’ve been on a bit of a roll recently reviewing wet n wild’s Limited Edition Fall 2016 Collection. I figured I would continue the streak and share my thoughts about their other new Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio, Plaid to the Bone.

wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-1

Similar to Velour Vixen, this eyeshadow palette contains three shades designated for certain areas of your eye (Browbone, Crease, Eyelid). However, while Velour Vixen was all warm tones, Plaid to the Bone contains cool tones.wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-2

The “browbone” shade is a tan shimmer. While I wouldn’t use this on my browbone per se, it is a great transition or base shade. wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-3

The “crease” shade is a beautiful navy shimmer. This is my favorite color in the palette, and I used it to line my lower lash line as well. I think this would mix well with other shadows like copper or bronze.wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-4-5

Finally, the “eyelid” shade is a shimmer green with gold tones. It’s a very bizarre color and looks completely different swatched and applied than it does in the palette.  wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-4

I usually prefer plums, reds, or neutral browns for eyeshadow, so I was unsure of this palette when I purchased it and even when I applied it. I decided to try it for the first time on a day I was substitute teaching. Um, PRO TIP: DON’T try new makeup on a day you have to go out in public. wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-5

Since this palette definitely seems like more of an evening look to me, I ended up feeling a bit like a showgirl at school all day, but hey, life goes on. Also, looking at these pictures, the look isn’t quite as dramatic as I felt it looked in person that day. *Whew*wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-6

However, since this is a bolder shadow look, I would recommend pairing it with a more neutral lip color. I’ve yet to find a nude lipstick that doesn’t look like a concealer on me, so I stuck with an old faithful, MAC Viva Glam V.wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-7

These shadows are very pigmented, so a little goes a long way! I would recommend starting light and building up to your desired intensity, which shouldn’t take much product at all.wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-8

There is definitely a little bit of fallout, but lightly tapping your eyeshadow brush before application will help with that. I also applied Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Metal in Barely Branded as a primer. It helps my shadow stay put ALL day long.
wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-9

Will this be my new everyday shadow? Probably not. But I can see myself reaching for it in the future! I think it would be great for date night, or I would love to use the navy “crease” shade with a bronze shimmer.wet-n-wild-plaid-to-the-bone-10

Not to mention wet n wild’s Plaid to the Bone shadow trio is only $2.99. For less than $3, you really can’t beat it! I have one more review from wet n wild’s Limited Edition Fall 2016 Collection still to come, so I hope y’all aren’t sick of beautiful makeup for amazing prices yet!

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Velour Vixen

Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 0

Y’all, wet n wild has been KILLING it lately. Or maybe they’ve always been killing it, and they just weren’t on my radar, but man they are now! I recently saw their Limited Edition Fall 2016 Collection at HEB and grabbed everything that interested me.

Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 1

One of the items I picked up was the wet n wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Velour Vixen. This shadow trio included…wait for it…three shadows! Who’d have guessed, right? 😉 Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 2

The shadows are imprinted with words signifying where you should apply each shadow. The “eyelid” shade is a deep plum with flecks of gold glitter. The “crease” shade is a rich shimmery cranberry. The “browbone” shade is a matte cream.
Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 3

I actually inverted the “eyelid” and “crease” shades and really preferred the colors that way. I could also see just using the “browbone” color as a base and using one of the other two shades in the crease as they’re both pretty bold.
Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 4

I have blue eyes, so I already love using reds and purples to make them pop. These shadows definitely complimented my eye color, and I think they would go well with any eye color. Also, the shadows were surprisingly pigmented, so I’m sure they would look beautiful on any skin tone.Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 5

The cranberry “crease” shadow was definitely my favorite shade, so I used it to line under my eyes as well. It’s a beautiful rich color and has just enough shimmer without being over the top sparkly.Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 6

If I had one complaint about these shadows, it would be that there was a little bit of fallout. However, it was minimal to begin with, and tapping my brush before application eliminated the issue completely. Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 7

I’m so glad this eyeshadow trio was released with the fall collection because the warm tones will be perfect with so many fall outfits and looks. Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 8

Thankfully, wet n wild stuck with the “trio” theme and kept this eyeshadow UNDER $3. Yes! Only $2.99! Too good to be true, right? Except, um, no. It is true. I just told you that, silly.
Wet n Wild Velour Vixen Shadow 9

The entire collection seems to be sold out left and right, so if you happen to see some of it and are looking for some fun, new shadows, I would snatch this wet n wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Velour Vixen up pronto!!!

e.l.f. Illuminating Palette

Hey friends! Are you a fan of highlighters? I AM. I’m also a fan of not spending tons of money on them. That is where the $6 e.l.f. Illuminating Palette comes in.

1.5

In the picture above, I have my full face of makeup on, except for a highlighter. I think it’s still a great look, but highlighter definitely adds that extra pop. Below, I applied highlighter on one half of my face…can you tell which side? 1

Here…I’ll give you some help! 2

It’s not a huge difference, but I think on the right my under-eye area definitely looks brighter, and my cheeks have a nice pop of sheen.

This e.l.f. Illuminating Palette is a pretty good bang for your buck…er…six bucks. I often see highlighters referred to as “bright enough to be seen from space.” I don’t know if this highlighter is quite that impressive. If we’re keeping with the atmosphere theme, I bet it could be seen from the stratosphere, though? Not bad for the price! 3

I typically apply the highlighter on my cheekbones, center of my nose, cupid’s bow, upper chin, and center forehead. I also use the lightest shade to brighten my under-eye area.4.5

This palette definitely adds a subtle, but pretty sheen where applied. It lasts throughout the day very well on me, also.4

According to e.l.f., “This beautiful illuminating palette holds 4 gorgeous complementary shades to mix and match for a custom blended radiance that captures, diffuses, and softens the way light reflects on the skin. The soft-focus powders are great for highlighting around the eyes and on cheekbones to enhance the skin with a luminous effect.”

You can see the four shades included below. I typically use a combination of the top two.5.5

e.l.f also says these colors can be used as shadows, which I think could create a beautiful, natural makeup look. I mean, as natural as shimmering eyelids can look, you know.5

Like I said, I don’t think these highlighters will be blinding any astronauts, but they’re a great purchase. If you’re wanting to test out highlighting without spending tons of money, give this palette a try!

Have you had luck with any other drugstore highlighters I should check out?
