Beauty Blurbs: Japonesque Luminous Foundaiton

Japonesque 1

Hey y’all! Today, I wanted to review the Japonesque Luminous Foundation for you. I purchased this shade quite awhile ago, and it has definitely become one of my favorite foundations.

Japonesque 2

The shade I am wearing here is 02. There are only 10 shades available, so it may be hard for some to find their perfect match. I love how moisturizing it is without making me look greasy. The formula creates a dewey look that has a medium-full coverage.

Japonesque 3

I have some patches of redness on a my cheeks and forehead, and this foundation easily covers them.

Japonesque 4

The Japonesque Luminous Foundation costs around $36, which is definitely more than I typically spend on foundation (WUT UP drugstore cosmetics!?). However, I think the cost is justified for how great the product is.

Japonesque 5

It stays on my combination skin for at least 8 hours, though if you have very oily skin, it may not last as long. I use a finishing powder to help set it as well.

Japonesque 6

If you’re in the market for a new foundation, I definitely recommend giving Japonesque Luminous Foundation a try. Its dewey, luminous finish is sure to please any makeup lover!

Thanks for stopping by! 🙂 Talk to you soon!

Beauty Blurbs: Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in Warm Me Up

0

Hey party people! Y’all ready for fall? This warm, nude lipstick is perfect for this season, and honestly, year-round! I’ve reviewed Maybelline’s ColorSensational lipcolors before in Vivid Rose and Vibrant Mandarin, but those colors are just a tad bit bright for October. Since I love the formula of Maybelline ColorSensational lipsticks and they have such a great selection, I decided to look for a fall color within their collection.
1

I decided on Warm Me Up, and I couldn’t be happier. I would describe Warm Me up as “my lips but better.” It’s almost the same shade as my natural lips, but it has some pinky-brown undertones that give my lips a little extra oomph. To show you how natural looking it is, I only applied it to my top lip in the picture below.2

The formula is relatively long-wearing and pretty moisturizing. I applied it yesterday, and it stayed on for four hours easily. Aside from it being a great product, the price is wallet-friendly, too! 3 I think this color would look great on a variety of skin tones. Since it’s relatively neutral, you could pair it with dramatic eye looks or with a swipe of mascara on days you’re running out the door. 4

This color is very similar to my holy grail lip product, Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey, so I think it will be a staple in my makeup routine for quite awhile! 5 Are you as excited as I am about my newest lipstick find?? If not, just give me a fake smile and pretend.

If try Warm Me Up, let me know what you think! I hope you love it as much as I do!

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin

0

Hey y’all! First things first, I always have the desire to refer to my readers as “Hooters,” which is totally not okay. Unfortunately, it popped into my head one day, and now every time I start a blog post, I want to say, “Hi Hooters!” Don’t worry, I’ll continue resisting the urge, I just wanted to fill you all in on my creative process. 😉

Today’s post could alternatively be titled “Selfie Overload!” So…I’m sorry in advance for that! I am reviewing Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin and wearing the color “Buff,” which is the next to lightest shade. I have repurchased this foundation multiple times and continue to love it!

1

This foundation claims to provide “longwearing coverage with a lightweight formula that won’t cake, fade, or rub off.” I must agree! Don’t let the term ‘lightweight’ make you think it doesn’t offer great coverage! With a light layer, I am able to even out my skin tone and cover minor blemishes easily.

2

I have worn this foundation with and without a primer, and it stays on for HOURS each time. On the bottle, it says it can be worn for up to 24 hours, but the maximum amount of time I’ve worn it is around 14 hours. The normal/dry skin formula controls the shine even on my oily areas really well. If I ever have any issues I do a quick swipe with an oil-absorbing sheet, and I’m good to go!

3

This foundation works for me from day-to-night and light-to-heavy makeup applications. There is a Combination/Oily skin formula I have tried when my skin gets more oily, and it works great as well! With 20 shades, this foundation covers a pretty wide range of skin tones.

4

Another positive aspect of Revlon Colorstay Makeup is that I’ve been able to achieve both dewy and matte looks with it! On the left in the photo above, I used a blush with more shimmer (MAC Peachykeen) and a lighter application. On the right, I used a finishing powder (e.l.f. High Definition Powder), matte blush (MAC Pink Swoon), and heavier application. With simple variations, this foundation can provide quite a range of looks and satisfy several styles.

5

If it’s not obvious yet, I’m a huge fan of this foundation, and that has almost nothing to do with the fact that it’s only about $10! If you’re looking for a great, new foundation (that just happens to be inexpensive!), definitely try out Revlon Colorstay Makeup!

Beauty Blurbs: L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

0

Mascara is probably my favorite makeup item. I just think mascara is crucial for opening up my eyes and completing my makeup look. My favorite brand of mascara is typically Maybelline, but I recently branched out and tried L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara.

1

This mascara claims to separate and build lashes for bold volume. The wand is nothing spectacular or new. It’s a pretty “average” wand, if you will. The formula is pretty wet, and doesn’t contain any sort of lengthening fibers.

2

As you can see, whether from the formula or the brush, this mascara definitely DIDN’T separate my lashes. If anything, it made them clump some. I worked and worked with the brush to help separate them, but i’m not sure how much it helped.

3

Another complaint I have about this mascara is that it tended to flake and smear on me throughout the day. Granted, I first tested it in Houston, which is notoriously hot and humid. I have worn it since returning to San Antonio, and these issues have not been quite as bad, but it is definitely worth mentioning. My mom wears this mascara as well, and she has complained of similar things.

4

As I stated, the formula is pretty wet, so I had to wait quite a bit of time between coats. I am wearing two coats in all of these pictures, and when I’ve tried to wear three, it simply becomes too clumpy. While this isn’t the worst mascara I’ve ever tried, I definitely think there are better drugstore options available.

5If you need to build a lot of volume for your lashes and you aren’t afraid of some clumping, feel free to give the L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara a try!

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in India Intrigue

0

Well, Revlon has done it again. You know I’ve been obsessed with their Balms forever, and I recently tried out their Colorstay Moisture Stain. My mom purchased a tube in the color India Intrigue, and I loved it so much, I had to buy some for myself!

1

The sleek packaging is great, except for the easily removable safety seal. I had to look through several tubes before I could find one that hadn’t been opened! People, if you want to try out makeup, go somewhere with testers or buy it somewhere you can return it…don’t ruin a product for the rest of us! As shown above, the applicator is a doe foot, which is my one complaint. I think it was a little bit difficult to apply, but I’ve gotten better with practice!

2

This “moisture stain” goes on like a gloss, but it’s not sticky at all. The color payoff is AMAZING! It perfectly matched how it looked in the tube, and it contains a small bit of glitter. Don’t worry, nothing too middle schoolish…just a nice sheen!

3

This vibrant, berry pink is the perfect color for summer, and the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain has 11 colors that offer great variety. I’m hoping to pick up a more everyday color, next. I mean…this bright pink is everyday for me, but I meant an everyday color for the average person who rocks a more subdued look. 🙂

4

I’m still on the fence about whether or not I think this stain is moisturizing. The glossy look stays for a fair amount of time and the stain lasts for a LONG time. As you can see in the photos below, the wear after 8 hours is pretty remarkable. While, the gloss wore off after eating and drinking, the stain was there to stay!

5

I am super pleased with this stain, and I think it’s really great quality for the price ($7-$10). I am anxious to pick up more colors soon. Let me know what you think if you happen to try it out and which color you think I should try next!

6

Until next time! 🙂
