For as long as I can remember, I’ve been using Maybelline Unstoppable Eyeliner in Onyx as my go-to black eyeliner. It’s been around forever, and I can see why. It glides on easily without tugging on my eyelid, which makes application a breeze. If you’re new to eyeliner or wanting to try it out, I think the Unstoppable Eyeliner is the perfect tool because it goes on so easily.
I always use it along my top lash line, and I often use it to line my lower waterline as well. The formula doesn’t irritate my eyes regardless of how long I have it on (though I never sleep in my makeup and neither should you!). It also never smudges onto my eyelid regardless of what eyeshadow I’m wearing, which I’ve encountered with other eyeliners.
Another great feature is that you simply swivel it up to “sharpen” it. I hate eyeliners that I have to sharpen with a pencil sharpener because I always feel like I’m going to get a splinter in my eye or something. Anyone else? No? Just me? Ok. Anyway…the width of the liner is great for creating thin lines, but it can easily be layered for a more dramatic look.
Adding Maybelline’s Unstoppable eyeliner to my eye routine really makes my eyes stand out, and I love that I can count on it to stay put and not smudge all day. At around $5.99 most places, it’s a great purchase in my opinion. Hope you agree!
DISCLAIMER: I’M IN LOVE WITH THIS PRODUCT. The Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Metal (what a mouthful) is one of my new favorite products! This cream gel shadow is supposed to last for 24 hours and make your shadows more vibrant. It comes in several shades, and I tested out Barely Branded, which is a light shimmery nude color.
This shadow glides on SUPER smoothly. I simply apply it with my fingers (because I’m super serious about beauty and all), and it hardly takes any product to cover my entire eyelid. This shade is the perfect color for an all-over base to layer other colors over. I typically use it on my entire lid with a darker color in my crease and a highlight at my brow bone. It could be worn alone though by someone who likes a more natural look. You know, because shimmering eyelids are natural.
Maybelline Color Tattoo works almost like (or possibly even better than) an eyeshadow primer. It doesn’t crease at all and seriously increases the color and wear of my other shadows. I’m not sure if it would stay on for 24 hours as claimed (and who needs makeup to last that long? Seriously?), but it did last me for 16 hour days at Disneyland last weekend without a problem! I also have it on today, and it’s been on for over 11 hours including a trip to the gym…it hasn’t budged!
I’m also pretty bad at blending my eyeshadow well, and the smoothness of Maybelline Color Tattoo really allows me to mix together various colors seamlessly. Also, if I apply too much product, it’s much easier to blend out. It really doesn’t take much eyeshadow at all because all of my products cling so well to the cream gel formula. Another thing to mention is that it adds some shimmer to my typically matte shadows when layered.
I definitely want to try some of the other available colors. There’s a beautiful reddish plum called Pomegranate Punk that I’d love to try! I’m also nervous to see how these types of shadows do when layered together. I’m not sure if the brightness of the purple would mellow when blended with Barely Branded. Guess I’ll just have to buy it and find out. 😉
At $6.99 these gel cream shadows are definitely pricier than some other drugstore singles, but I think all of the benefits (no creasing, great staying power, primer-like qualities, etc.) make that price MORE than fair! Let me know if you’ve tried any other colors of Maybelline Color Tattoo shadows! Or, get your own jar of Barely Branded here!
Hey everyone! Time for another mascara review! As I said before, mascara is my fave beauty product. In this review, I want to talk about my all-time favorite mascara: Maybelline Falsies Mascara in Very Black (as always). I’m no makeup professional, so the ability to get a false lash look without potentially glueing my eyelids shut is pretty thrilling to me.
This mascara contains fibers that cling to your lashes similar to other lash primers and more expensive products to give a lengthening and volumizing effect. Maybelline claims it increases lash visibility by 300%, and while I have no clue how they reached that statistic it definitely makes mine more apparent…maybe by 245%? 😉
Surprisingly, considering the fibers, there is little-to-no flaking, which is always a plus. Also, this mascara does not dry out quickly. It’s great quality for a mascara under $5! Considering the price and lasting value, I never hesitate before swiping on a second coat.
The wear is great, too. Even after running errands all day, my luscious, non-fake falsies are still intact! Much better than dealing with false lashes coming unglued and dangling into your eye like a restless caterpillar. If you’re a fan of drugstore beauty products (and their prices!) like me, definitely grab a tube of Maybelline Falsies Mascara next time you make a run to the store! Or just get one online, here!
I’m pretty sure if I could only have one makeup item on a deserted island it would be mascara. Looks would be the least of my worries if I was stranded of course, but we’re talking hypothetical situations here. Regardless, I’m always up for trying new mascaras because it’s one of my favorite types of makeup, and it’s relatively inexpensive to sample. The mascara I tried for this post is Maybelline’s Volum’ Express The Mega Plush Mascara in Blackest Black. This mascara retails at most drugstores for about $5.99. I’ve always been a fan of Maybelline mascaras for both their price and quality. This particular mascara is supposed to give your lashes extra volume, and it’s supposed to achieve this through its “revolutionary gel-mousse formula.”
First off, I loved the brush. It wasn’t as easy to apply the mascara as some other mascaras I’ve used, but the fibers were very soft and flexible as was the wand. Forgive me for not taking a picture. 🙂
Secondly, the formula is definitely different than what I’m used to. The texture is hard to describe, but it definitely feels unique. Once it dried, my lashes felt less stiff than with other products. I liked how soft they remained. The pictures below are after two coats of the mascara.
Honestly, I’m not sure if the product added much volume to my lashes. The wear was great; I hardly had any flaking throughout the day. However, I think I prefer mascaras that offer both lengthening and volumizing properties. Also, excuse my horrifically unkempt eyebrows in the picture below.
I would definitely recommend Maybellie’s Mega Plush mascara to someone who is happy with the length of their lashes but wants a soft mascara that adds a little bit of volume. I prefer pretty dramatic lashes, so if you wear a more natural look, this would probably work better for you.I’ve kept this mascara as part of my regular rotation, but I doubt I will be repurchasing it in the future. Maybelline still holds the spot as my favorite mascara creator, but Mega Plush just isn’t in my #1 slot. Hope this helps out anyone considering purchasing this mascara! As a drugstore beauty lover with oily/combination skin, it’s often hard for me to find the perfect foundation. Good news though…I have a new recommendation for you! The Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation is AMAZING. It works great not only on my combination skin, but my mom (who has super dry skin!) loves it, too!

According to Maybelline, this foundation provides “radiant, healthy looking skin with a luxurious feel.” And is, “an oil-free formula that is non-comedogenic and won’t clog your pores for flawless natural looking coverage.” I love the emphasis on natural coverage because I would definitely consider this a medium coverage foundation. Considering I usually go for medium-full coverage foundations, I was worried this would be too sheer for me. However, the coverage is definitely buildable, and it looks flawless after I use my Maybelline Fit Me Concealer.
As you can see, I am a pretty pale gal. Thankfully, the lightest shade in this foundation is a perfect match for me! Porcelain Ivory has slightly pink undertones and applies slightly lighter than it looks in the bottle. For reference, I wear Classic Ivory in Covergirl 3-in-1 Outlast Stay Fabulous foundation (my other go-to foundation!).
My favorite way to apply it is with a damp original BeautyBlender. If you choose to use a brush, the coverage may be even better, but I find this blends perfectly when I use a sponge. I also set this foundation with Coty Airspun Extra Coverage Translucent Powder, since I have combination skin and live in a very humid climate. However, if you don’t add concealer or have drier skin, you could skip the powder all together.
The Dream Satin Liquid Foundation has a hydrating serum in it that is supposed to provide up to 12 hours of moisture. I have worn this foundation for 12+ hours, and I can attest that my skin felt moisturized and still looked flawless after all that time. If you’re oilier you may need a shine sheet or some setting powder after several hours, but otherwise this should last you perfectly all day!
At under $10, I think the Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation is a perfect choice for anyone looking for a medium coverage, dewy foundation that will last all day! You know I love my drugstore beauty items, and this foundation has quickly climbed to the top of my favorites list! Let me know below if you have any new beauty favorites!
