Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor in Always Sienna

Fall is upon us, which means it’s the perfect time of year for warm, neutral lip products! I mean, I suppose they’re perfect year round, but they feel especially appropriate this season! revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-1

The Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor in Always Sienna is the perfect fall shade. It’s a warm, mauve shade with slight brown tones.

The Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolors are dual ended lip products that include the lipcolor on one end and a clear gloss on the other. The lipcolor has a doefoot applicator, and the lipgloss has a brush applicator. revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-3

According to the directions, you’re supposed to apply the lipcolor first, wait for it to dry, and then apply the gloss on top. In theory, you shouldn’t need to apply the color again, but you can add more gloss as needed.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-4

I applied the lipcolor first (as instructed), and I hated the texture! It felt so sticky and tight on my lips, so I assumed I would hate it regardless. However, once it dried, I applied the gloss on top, and it made a world of difference! With the gloss layered over the lipcolor, it adds moisture back into your lips, and takes away any feelings of discomfort the lipcolor causes. Apparently the gloss contains chamomile and soy extract to help moisturize the lips.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-5

I’m normally not a gloss person. I love how it looks, but I hate how my hair gets in it and, inevitably, smears it across my face. That is definitely just a personal preference though, and has nothing to do with the quality of the product. 🙂 Also, the gloss eventually wears off with this product, leaving you with just a non-sticky beautiful lip color.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-6

I love the shade of Always Sienna, and I was AMAZED at the staying power! Revlon claims the product can stay on up to 16 hours, and I’d believe it. It stayed put on me through eating and drinking for at least 12 hours. It isn’t transfer proof, but the color was still totally visible after all that time.revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-7

The gloss wore off quicker than the color, but even when it wore off, the moisturizing components helped my lips feel comfortable. I chose not to reapply the gloss because I preferred the demi-matte look of the lipcolor without having to deal with my hair getting stuck to my lips. 🙂revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-8

During that time I didn’t notice any feathering or bleeding, which was impressive. Glosses usually slip and slide around my lips and always bleed. Perhaps since the lipcolor sets first, it helps prevent feathering. revlon-colorstay-overtime-always-sienna-9

Overall the formula is very unique, and I’m pleased with the color payoff and wear time. If you have extremely dry lips, you may want to avoid this product. I think the lipcolor setting down may bother you too much, but otherwise give this product a try. They have almost 30 colors to choose from, so there’s something for everyone!

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme Perpetrual Flame

0

As someone who mostly wears drugstore makeup, MAC is considered a splurge for me. When I really want to have a “treat yo’ self” moment, I know I can’t go wrong with their products…and I recently discovered, their MAC Prolongwear Lipcreme is absolutely amazing.

2

This color is Perpetual Flame, and it’s a gorgeous red with just a hint of berry to it. The color payoff is amazing, and it applies smoothly and easily.

3

I used to not care much about lipstick, but in the last few years, it has become one of my favorite beauty products, and this one is near the top of the list.

The picture below is from FOUR HOURS after I applied my lipstick AND after I ate Pappasito’s.  Anyone that knows Texans knows we don’t mess around when eating Tex Mex. I didn’t hold back, and this lipstick stayed in place perfectly.  (Also, I’m not sure what I mean by “I didn’t hold back”…I don’t eat Tex Mex like a ravenous dog…most of the time…)

5

Here I am reapplying my MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme. JUST KIDDING. IT NEVER WEARS OFF. Seriously, I’ve worn it for at least 8 hours before, and it didn’t budge. It’s also great because even though it’s long-wearing, my lips never feel dry or uncomfortable when I’m wearing this lipstick.

6

As you can see, I’m a BIG fan of this lip product, and I think you’ll love it, too! It’s worth the tiny splurge if you’re looking for an amazing, long-wearing lipstick.

What are your favorite shades of lipstick from MAC? Let me know!

Beauty Blurbs: Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in Warm Me Up

0

Hey party people! Y’all ready for fall? This warm, nude lipstick is perfect for this season, and honestly, year-round! I’ve reviewed Maybelline’s ColorSensational lipcolors before in Vivid Rose and Vibrant Mandarin, but those colors are just a tad bit bright for October. Since I love the formula of Maybelline ColorSensational lipsticks and they have such a great selection, I decided to look for a fall color within their collection.
1

I decided on Warm Me Up, and I couldn’t be happier. I would describe Warm Me up as “my lips but better.” It’s almost the same shade as my natural lips, but it has some pinky-brown undertones that give my lips a little extra oomph. To show you how natural looking it is, I only applied it to my top lip in the picture below.2

The formula is relatively long-wearing and pretty moisturizing. I applied it yesterday, and it stayed on for four hours easily. Aside from it being a great product, the price is wallet-friendly, too! 3 I think this color would look great on a variety of skin tones. Since it’s relatively neutral, you could pair it with dramatic eye looks or with a swipe of mascara on days you’re running out the door. 4

This color is very similar to my holy grail lip product, Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey, so I think it will be a staple in my makeup routine for quite awhile! 5 Are you as excited as I am about my newest lipstick find?? If not, just give me a fake smile and pretend.

If try Warm Me Up, let me know what you think! I hope you love it as much as I do!

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain in India Intrigue

0

Well, Revlon has done it again. You know I’ve been obsessed with their Balms forever, and I recently tried out their Colorstay Moisture Stain. My mom purchased a tube in the color India Intrigue, and I loved it so much, I had to buy some for myself!

1

The sleek packaging is great, except for the easily removable safety seal. I had to look through several tubes before I could find one that hadn’t been opened! People, if you want to try out makeup, go somewhere with testers or buy it somewhere you can return it…don’t ruin a product for the rest of us! As shown above, the applicator is a doe foot, which is my one complaint. I think it was a little bit difficult to apply, but I’ve gotten better with practice!

2

This “moisture stain” goes on like a gloss, but it’s not sticky at all. The color payoff is AMAZING! It perfectly matched how it looked in the tube, and it contains a small bit of glitter. Don’t worry, nothing too middle schoolish…just a nice sheen!

3

This vibrant, berry pink is the perfect color for summer, and the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain has 11 colors that offer great variety. I’m hoping to pick up a more everyday color, next. I mean…this bright pink is everyday for me, but I meant an everyday color for the average person who rocks a more subdued look. 🙂

4

I’m still on the fence about whether or not I think this stain is moisturizing. The glossy look stays for a fair amount of time and the stain lasts for a LONG time. As you can see in the photos below, the wear after 8 hours is pretty remarkable. While, the gloss wore off after eating and drinking, the stain was there to stay!

5

I am super pleased with this stain, and I think it’s really great quality for the price ($7-$10). I am anxious to pick up more colors soon. Let me know what you think if you happen to try it out and which color you think I should try next!

6

Until next time! 🙂

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm in Standout

0

Howdy friends! I’m back today with a review of another Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm. After searching far and wide (ok, just Walmart & Ulta), I finally got my hands (well hand…it’s not that giant) on a tube of Standout. I totally fell in love with Sultry, so I was psyched to finally find this color to try!

1

This is a classic, beautiful red. I’ve looked for and tried other red lipsticks before, and I find that so many are either a coral red or a pinky red or an orangey red, but not just a true, RED. Yes, I know that sounds dumb. Trust me though. Go look for a true red lipstick, and you’ll see how hard it is to find! First world problems, I know.

2

As I said before, I love the Revlon Matte Balms. Between these and the Balm Stains, Revlon is quickly becoming the holy grail of lip products for me! The Matte Balm is matte (duh), highly pigmented, and very long-lasting. It does tend to sink into cracks and crevices on your lips and is obviously not moisturizing. Make sure your lips are smooth and moisturized before enjoying these rich, beautiful shades.

3

BAM. Did I tell you, or what? A true, classic red! Love it! I know it’s kind of bold, but I’ve been wanting to try red lips for quite awhile. Standout Matte Balm sealed the deal for me.

4

Don’t commit to this color if you don’t want it on for a LONG TIME. Seriously, today, I ate pigs in a blanket, went to church, drank water, took a nap, and ate chipotle over a span of several hours, and this stuff DIDN’T BUDGE. And no, I wasn’t eating super awkwardly trying to avoid messing up my lipstick or anything. I reapplied once to the inner area of my lips just to ensure the color remained even, but it really wasn’t necessary.

5

I kept my eye makeup simple, so Standout could be…uh…the standout.

6

The one small issue I did have was some bleeding around the edges of my lips. I think that’s pretty typical of several lipsticks, but it’s still a pain. I may invest in a “clear” lipliner and use that underneath as I’ve heard that eliminates bleeding and increases wear. Worth a shot!

7For good measure, here are a few shots of me looking like a fool trying to take pictures…ridiculous. 😉 All for y’all. Get your own tube of Standout here!

More Beauty Blurbs and a yummy recipe coming up this week! Get ready!
