wet n wild Photo Focus Foundation

wet n wild recently (ish?) released a new line of Photo Focus products, that they claim will help you achieve flawless, camera-ready makeup in any lighting condition. With the liquid foundation priced at only $5.99, I was anxious to try it out!

The wet n wild Photo Focus Foundation, has a wide range of 20 colors, so hopefully most people can find a matching shade. I debated on which color to try, and wound up purchasing Nude Ivory. It’s an excellent match for my skin! (I think, at least? Feel free to let me know if I’m way off. 😂)

The packaging is convenient, and has a sort of spatula wand that makes it very easy to distribute the product onto your face. I use about 2 spatula’s worth (if that makes sense), and blend out the foundation with my Beauty Blender or wet n wild’s flat top brush

I think the coverage is medium to heavy, which I prefer. I did still go in with Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer to brighten up my under eye area, but I was pleased with how well the foundation covered my natural redness.

I’ve been using this foundation off and on for a couple of months now, and I feel like I definitely need to set it all over with powder, or it makes my skin very greasy. I have combination skin, and usually setting my T-Zone with powder is enough to keep me oil-free all day, but that isn’t the case with this foundation. I use the highlighter side of wet n wild’s contour palette to set this makeup, and it works great. There is also a complimentary wet n wild Photo Focus powder, but I haven’t tried that yet. Just be warned that unless you have very dry skin, I would definitely set this foundation with powder.

Aside from the oiliness, the wear time on this foundation is pretty good. If you typically touch up your makeup, I’d guess you won’t need to do so until about four or five hours of application. If you’re naturally oily, one blotting sheet around that time and you should be good to go for awhile longer.

Another point I wanted to mention is that this product definitely has a bit of a chemical smell. It does fade once it dries on your skin, but if you’re sensitive to smells, maybe give this one a whiff in the store before purchasing.

The main claim of the Photo Focus line is to prevent flashback regardless of lighting conditions. I used natural light to take the photos above (as I usually try to do), and I definitely see pretty flawless results. I haven’t tested this makeup with a flash or in different lighting conditions, but in daylight at least, I’m very pleased.

At only $5.99 (or less if you can find a coupon at your store!), I would definitely recommend this foundation. If you want a medium to high coverage look, and you’re willing to put in the effort to set the foundation, there aren’t many downsides to this product!

wet n wild has definitely stepped up their game in the last few years, and this wet n wild Photo Focus Foundation is no exception! Have you tried any other products from wet n wild recently? Let me know!

wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love Color Icon Matte Liquid Lipstick

wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 0

If you’ve read my blog at all, you know I love classic red lipstick. So when I saw this beautiful red released with wet n wild’s Limited Edition Fall Collection, I couldn’t pass it up.

wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 1

This shade, How Fleek is Your Love, is one of four Color Icon Matte Liquid Lipsticks in their new collection. First of y’all, the name? So dumb and weird. I cringed just typing it. However, a lipstick by any other name would be as beautiful. Or something like that.

Poorly misused quotes aside, I’m trying to express that I love this lipstick! The formula is a true matte that dries down only seconds after application.

The color payoff is amazing and completely covered my lips in one coat. This is a classic blue-red lip that will flatter any and all skin tones! I think it makes teeth look whiter, also! wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 9.5

The applicator is a fuzzy, doe foot wand, that made application relatively easy. The flock on the applicator was a little long for my taste, which meant I made a few mistakes applying the lipstick. It is also curved in towards the tip, which I’m assuming is to allow more product to be picked up there. I was able to cover almost all of my lips with one swipe which was nice. wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 9

I would definitely have some tissues, concealer, and/or a lip brush on hand to help clean up any mistakes you make. This product dries FAST and is LONG wearing, so try to remove any excess/accidental lipstick you apply ASAP!

However, since it sets down to a matte so quickly, bleeding wasn’t an issue for me. Hooray!

It also doesn’t transfer. It stayed on well for several hours. I was able to drink water, but it started flaking oddly when I tried eating with it on. It sort of came off in tiny little chunks, but not off completely. It would have definitely required reapplication though!wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 10

In fact, I had to use a lipstick remover to get it all the way off! This lipstick remove from e.l.f. worked great. Just beware before you apply this stuff that it is HARD to remove without a product designed to do just that. Otherwise you’ll be scrubbing your poor lips raw!

All this jabbering and I haven’t even mentioned one of the best parts! This matte liquid lipstick only costs $2.99! YES. UNDER $3. Unreal!

It’s unfortunately currently sold out on wet n wild’s website. However, it is sold at HEB, Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, and other retailers. Wet n wild also has a store locator function, so you can see where to purchase their products in your area. wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 12

If you don’t see it in the regular wet n wild section of your store, check end caps for special displays, since this is a Limited Edition collection. And trust me, their collections sell out quickly! I bought everything I wanted from the fall collection as soon as it showed up in my HEB, and the next time I saw the display it was totally empty! If you want something, snatch it up when you see it! wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 13.5

As you can tell, I’m pretty enamored with this wet n wild Color Icon Matte Liquid Lipstick! The price can’t be beat for the quality! I think it holds up well against higher end matte liquid lipsticks for a fraction of the cost.wet n wild How Fleek Is Your Love 13

I purchased more from the wet n wild fall 2016 collection, so I’ll be sharing my thoughts on those products soon! I hope you’re all as excited about them as I am!

Wet n Wild Color Icon Metallic Liquid Lipstick

Wet n Wild’s Limited Edition Summer Line has been flying off the shelves lately, so I figured I would grab some of the products to try myself. The first product I sampled is the Wet n Wild Color Icon Metallic Liquid Lipstick in Chrysanthemum’s the Word.

It is one of 6 colors in their new Metallic Liquid Lipstick collection and is a true pink hue. The applicator is a classic doe foot style, and it picks up a great amount of product. I was able to cover most of my lips with one pass.

2

I was happily surprised with the pigmentation of this lipstick! With lighter colors I always worry about them looking streaky, but this was so smooth of covered my lips very well.

3

They definitely aren’t kidding about the metallic finish either! It catches the light so well, and it stayed super shiny the entire time I had it on.

4

For some reason, I expected these to dry down matte, but they aren’t advertised that way. They definitely stay wet the entire wear time, which means they will transfer.

5

I didn’t eat or drink while wearing this liquid lipstick, so I can’t say how well they would stay on through that. However, it did stay perfect the entire time I had it on, with no bleeding, which was a big plus.

6

The formula claims to be non-drying, and I think that’s a fair statement. It’s not moisturizing by any means, but at no point while wearing it my lips feel dry.

7

I’m usually not a glossy, shiny lip person, so this was definitely step outside the box for me, but I think I’m a fan! It’s a fun look for summertime, when I feel like everyone is drying to achieve that “summer glow.”

8

Plus, at $2.99, it’s totally worth the risk, if you don’t like it! Have you tried any of Wet n Wild’s summer collection? I’m trying to get my hands on the highlighting powder next! All about that summer glow, right!?! (And by that I mean the kind of glow I can achieve by applying it with a makeup brush and never seeing the sun…)
