It's Just Another Manicure Monday: OPI Pamplona Purple

0

Happy Monday! I just wanted to share the fun, purple I’m wearing this week! It’s OPI Pamplona Purple, and it’s a beautiful purple with a hint of fuchsia. It’s hard to convey the color in photographs, but I tried my best!

1

In the bottle, Pamplona Purple appears more fuchsia, but once applied it is closer to a true purple. It has great coverage, and it only took two coats for my nails to be completely opaque. It’s a pretty thick polish, but the dry time is great. I was admiring the neon purple from OPI’s summer neon line, Push & Pur-Pull, but I decided to resist the urge to buy another polish and dug out Pamplona Purple instead. I’m not sure if it completely quenched my desire for some neon polish, but I’m content for now. 😉

2I’m hoping to incorporate this purple with perhaps a white or neon pink polish later this summer for some fun nail art, but for now, I’m enjoying it on its own! Hope your week is off to a great start!

**Very Important Side Note: Wearing this polish reminds me of the Amelia’s Notebook series by Marissa Moss. Did anyone read these? They were the journals and sketchbook of a young girl named Amelia, and at one point she wrote about stealing her sister’s purple nail polish and painting her nails. She complained that she kept thinking her nails were grapes and wanting to eat them. I guess that means Amelia may have been a bit dumb, but at least her notebooks were entertaining for 7-year old me.

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic

0

My love affair with Revlon lip products is no secret. This past weekend I broke my bronzer, so to cheer me up my sweet husband took me to Ulta to replace it and pick up a few more things. 😉 He actually picked out this Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic for me, and I love it!

1

This BRIGHT pink has a slight mint scent and is super pigmented. It is totally the perfect color for the fun, summer months to come.

2

You can see below the matte balm does slightly sink into the crevices of my lips, but it’s not nearly as bad as Mischievous. Once I layered it, it was a lot better. I think with a good lip primer or some balm underneath the problem would be solved.

3

The wear-time is okay. It stayed on really well until I ate lunch, so I’m pretty pleased. It’s definitely not moisturizing though, so if you have dry lips, I’d stay away or invest in some great primer.

4

You can see in natural light Unapologetic is a really beautiful pink color. I wore it shopping the other day, and the sales associate complimented it and couldn’t believe it was Revlon! She told me it looked much more expensive and thought I was lying until I pulled it out of my purse. Guess that’s a good sign??

5

The great thing about the Revlon balms is that they come in matte balm, balm stains, and lacquer balms, so they have something for everyone! Plus, you can pick them up anywhere, which is great. Hope if you try Unapologetic you like it as much as I do!

6Also, in the spirit of full disclosure (in case you couldn’t tell), I took the last few pictures in my shower. Like literally, standing in my bathtub, taking pictures of myself. What? It had the best lighting at the time! Hey, when you live in an apartment and are working with a point-and-shoot camera, desperate times call for desperate measures.

On that note, I’m off to enjoy Seinfeld reruns with my perfect lipstick-selecting hubby! Hope you had a great Wednesday!

It's Just Another Manicure Monday: Sinful Colors Sinful Shine in Amazonian

0

Today, I want to highlight the Sinful Colors Sinful Shine polish in Amazonian. If you have never used Sinful Colors polishes before, you should go buy a bottle! They are suuuuuper inexpensive, come in a huge range of colors, and apply great. In fact, they were recently ranked #1 in a blind test done by ABC News. I’m not sure why ABC News has time to report about nail polish, but I have to agree that Sinful Colors polishes are pretty great.

1

I know it’s summertime and everyone should be rocking light and bright polishes, but I just couldn’t pass up this glitter-filled emerald green. I mean, if you were going to move to the Emerald City, this would be the polish to wear.

emerald city It’s so hard to photograph, but in person it is full of shine and sparkle. In some photographs, it looks slightly olive green, but it’s definitely a deep, rich green in person. The color is really beautiful! I also love how the glitter is interspersed throughout the polish instead of having to add a glitter topcoat, which never applies evenly.

2

This particular polish is part of Sinful Colors Sinful Shine line with Gel Tech, which claims to have 5 times more shine than their regular line. I have to agree it was super shiny, and the color and application were even better than my other Sinful Colors polishes. It was definitely worth the extra $1. I plan on checking out some of the other 30+ colors in the collection soon.

3Amazonian is such a fun, unique color, and I highly recommend it! If you’re worried about it being to dark for summer layer it with some fun nail art in a light blue or mint! Regular Sinful Color polishes run about $1.99 a bottle, and the Sinful Shine line runs about $2.99 a bottle. At such great prices, these polishes are perfect for testing out a color you’re not too sure about or expanding your polish collection to include a rainbow of options!

Hope you’re a fan of Amazonian, too! Enjoy!

Welcome Hudson Kirby!

0

On May 15th at 12:35 PM, Hudson Kirby made his entrance into the world at 20 inches long and 7 lbs 12 oz! As you can see, he’s completely perfect in every way with a head full of dark hair and a perfect little pout.

2

Louis and I got the call at 7:00 AM that Amy was in labor, so we packed up at headed to Houston as fast as we could! Amy was a total champ, and the delivery was so smooth and quick…I guess Hudson knew everyone was anxious to meet him. 🙂

While Amy was in labor, Louis and I got to babysit Henry until his baby brother’s arrival. As soon as Hudson made is entrance, we (miraculously) installed Hen’s carseat in the back of my Sunfire and headed to the hospital!

3

I instantly fell in love with nephew #2! I think his lips were (and are) my favorite little feature on him…or his tiny fingers and toes! It’s too hard to pick! It was so precious to see Henry meeting his baby brother for the first time and seeing their complete little family. It was like Hudson filled a perfect, tiny void that no one knew was there. Now that he’s here, I can’t imagine our family without him!

4

Louis decided that Hudson needed a birthday cake to celebrate, so we took a cake on our 2nd visit to the hospital! After all, you only turn zero, once! 😉

5

Our fam obviously couldn’t pass up an opportunity to wear matching shirts to celebrate our newest member! Another special fact about Hudson is that his middle name is Kirby, which is after my dad! It’s so special that Hudson will carry on his name.

6

Since Hudson was born on a Thursday, we got to stay in town until Sunday night, which meant lots of time watching Henry! He is at SUCH a fun age, and he’s learning something new and changing every day! I’m pretty sure I’ve said this every month, but this is my favorite age so far. Also, I absolutely LOVE watching Louis and Henry play because Louis is basically a big kid, so they always have a blast together. It’s precious.

7

Sunday came way too fast, and I didn’t want to leave either of my sweet nephews! Thankfully, I’m back in town this week, so I get to love on them some more! Hudson is two and a half weeks old and he’s already changed SO much. The only thing that hasn’t changed is that he’s still as sweet, handsome, and perfect as the day he was born. I can’t wait to watch him change and grow alongside his big brother!
