Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

0

Y’all. Whoever is creating the mascaras at Maybelline needs a raise. THEY’RE ALL SO GOOD. In the last few months, I’ve started loving Maybelline’s Lash Sensational Mascara.

1

It’s from the drugstore (duh), so the price is awesome, but that’s not why I love it so much. It adds so much length and volume to each and every lash! 23

As you can see, the brush has tons of bristles at varying lengths, so each of your lashes gets coated with this amazing mascara. The tiny bristles are perfect for getting the product on your eyelashes, and the longer bristles help separate them and create the fan effect.4

I chose the darkest formula, Blackest Black, and I love how rich the color is. I typically apply 2-3 coats, waiting for my mascara to dry between each coat.

5

According to Maybelline, the “Liquid Ink formula coats from all sides.” First of all, um, what? When is ink not liquid? Secondly, it actually does coat my lashes well! However, you definitely need to be careful to separate them out before the mascara dries so they aren’t clumpy. Unless that’s the look you’re going for, of course.

6

This mascara also doesn’t flake or smear at all throughout the day, which is so nice. That’s essential for mascara in Texas with our HOT summers looming!

7

As you can hopefully see, Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara is an awesome product because it makes a big impact on your eyes for a very small cost!

8

If you give it a try, I hope you love it as much as I do! What are your favorite drugstore makeup products? Let me know in the comments!

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Love

0

Well, that didn’t take long. A few days ago, I wrote about how much I loved Revlon’s New Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor, and the very next day I went out and bought another shade! Oops. I guess that’s proof I really like them though. 🙂 Plus, HEB had them for 40% off! How was I really supposed to pass that up? This time, I bought the shade Love, a bright, summery red, with a hint of orange.

1

Since this shade was slightly darker than Temptation, I didn’t have any issues with it sinking into the cracks in my lips, which was nice! It’s a little bolder than it looked in the tube, but I’m a fan for sure.

2

While I felt like Temptation never really set into a matte, this one definitely did. It still transferred, which is a bummer, but blotting may help with that. Love also has a vanilla scent that, thankfully, fades away pretty quickly. While I love vanilla, I’m not a fan of my lip products having a scent.

3

As you can see above, this lipcolor lasted for quite awhile! The picture on the right was after eating a delicious lunch at Chickfila, too! It definitely stood up very well. I should mention, it’s not kiss-proof though. Every time I smooched Louis, he was left with red lips or a red cheek…(sorry, handsome!)

4

I think this color would be perfect for summertime because it’s a rich, beautiful red, and it’s bright enough that it would pair great with summer colors. What else is there to say? I love Love! 😉

5

I’m obviously hooked on these new Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors, and I can’t wait to buy more shades! (And if my track record is any indication, I should have more by tomorrow!;) )

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor in Temptation

If you’ve been around here for awhile, you know of my love for Revlon lip products. They recently released a new formula…the Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolors. I’ve been wanting to acquire some for awhile to try them out, and lo and behold, they were on sale at Target last weekend! Hallelujah!

Revlon Temptation 0

The color I bought is Temptation. It’s a bright mauve-pink. According to Revlon, “Ultra HD Matte Lip Color is a lightweight, high definition, matte color with a moisturizing velvety feel.” I’m not really sure how a lip color can be “HD,” but that seems to be a big buzzword in makeup right now…wonder what technological words they’ll use in makeup next? And what does that make my “non-HD” lipsticks? Standard?

Revlon Temptation 1

Regardless, I like this lipcolor! I’m torn whether to call it a lipgloss or a lipstick, because it applies like a gloss. However, it wears more like a lipstick. Hence the name lipcolor, perhaps? It has a plush applicator that allows for relatively easy application. I love the matte packaging, but it does affect the color appearance. For example, this color looked much less vibrant in the tube than it actually is. Just be aware and look up swatches online before you purchase it. Revlon also has examples of women of various skin tones modeling each color on their website.

Revlon Temptation 2

I felt like the color sunk into the crevices in my lips a little when I applied it, but it wasn’t too drastic and lessened with wear. I also think this wouldn’t be an issue with a darker color. Lighter toned lip products often have this issue, I’ve noticed.

Revlon Temptation 3

Like I said, this product applies like a gloss, and while it claims to be matte, mine didn’t really ever set until waaaaaay later. It is definitely not extremely shiny, but don’t expect it to set like a matte right away. If you blot it, I think it will look matte much faster, but I chose not to.

Revlon Temptation 4

I was pleased with the wear time. As you can see below, a lot of color was still there after 5 hours (and those hours included eating a turkey wrap and drinking from a water bottle!). There is a slight lipliner effect going on, but overall, I’m pleased with how much of the product/stain remained…especially since it doesn’t claim to be long wearing.

Revlon Temptation 5

Another good note is that it didn’t seem as drying as other matte products I own. If mattes tend to dry out your lips or you think your lips are too dry to wear matte products, this may be a perfect option for you. I’m not sure I would go as far to say that it is “velvety” or “moisturizing” (which it claims), but it’s definitely not drying.

Revlon Temptation 6

Another thing I wanted to point out is the smell. It’s a pretty strong vanilla scent similar to Lip Smackers Vanilla Frosting circa 1999. If you’re sensitive to smells and flavors for lip products you may want to steer clear. The smell goes away pretty quickly after application, thankfully.

Revlon Temptation 7

Overall, I’m pleased with Revlon’s Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor, and I think I may purchase a few more of the eight available shades. If you try any out or have another color recommendation, let me know!

Beauty Blurbs: Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in Warm Me Up

0

Hey party people! Y’all ready for fall? This warm, nude lipstick is perfect for this season, and honestly, year-round! I’ve reviewed Maybelline’s ColorSensational lipcolors before in Vivid Rose and Vibrant Mandarin, but those colors are just a tad bit bright for October. Since I love the formula of Maybelline ColorSensational lipsticks and they have such a great selection, I decided to look for a fall color within their collection.
1

I decided on Warm Me Up, and I couldn’t be happier. I would describe Warm Me up as “my lips but better.” It’s almost the same shade as my natural lips, but it has some pinky-brown undertones that give my lips a little extra oomph. To show you how natural looking it is, I only applied it to my top lip in the picture below.2

The formula is relatively long-wearing and pretty moisturizing. I applied it yesterday, and it stayed on for four hours easily. Aside from it being a great product, the price is wallet-friendly, too! 3 I think this color would look great on a variety of skin tones. Since it’s relatively neutral, you could pair it with dramatic eye looks or with a swipe of mascara on days you’re running out the door. 4

This color is very similar to my holy grail lip product, Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey, so I think it will be a staple in my makeup routine for quite awhile! 5 Are you as excited as I am about my newest lipstick find?? If not, just give me a fake smile and pretend.

If try Warm Me Up, let me know what you think! I hope you love it as much as I do!

Beauty Blurbs: Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin

0

Hey y’all! First things first, I always have the desire to refer to my readers as “Hooters,” which is totally not okay. Unfortunately, it popped into my head one day, and now every time I start a blog post, I want to say, “Hi Hooters!” Don’t worry, I’ll continue resisting the urge, I just wanted to fill you all in on my creative process. 😉

Today’s post could alternatively be titled “Selfie Overload!” So…I’m sorry in advance for that! I am reviewing Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Normal/Dry Skin and wearing the color “Buff,” which is the next to lightest shade. I have repurchased this foundation multiple times and continue to love it!

1

This foundation claims to provide “longwearing coverage with a lightweight formula that won’t cake, fade, or rub off.” I must agree! Don’t let the term ‘lightweight’ make you think it doesn’t offer great coverage! With a light layer, I am able to even out my skin tone and cover minor blemishes easily.

2

I have worn this foundation with and without a primer, and it stays on for HOURS each time. On the bottle, it says it can be worn for up to 24 hours, but the maximum amount of time I’ve worn it is around 14 hours. The normal/dry skin formula controls the shine even on my oily areas really well. If I ever have any issues I do a quick swipe with an oil-absorbing sheet, and I’m good to go!

3

This foundation works for me from day-to-night and light-to-heavy makeup applications. There is a Combination/Oily skin formula I have tried when my skin gets more oily, and it works great as well! With 20 shades, this foundation covers a pretty wide range of skin tones.

4

Another positive aspect of Revlon Colorstay Makeup is that I’ve been able to achieve both dewy and matte looks with it! On the left in the photo above, I used a blush with more shimmer (MAC Peachykeen) and a lighter application. On the right, I used a finishing powder (e.l.f. High Definition Powder), matte blush (MAC Pink Swoon), and heavier application. With simple variations, this foundation can provide quite a range of looks and satisfy several styles.

5

If it’s not obvious yet, I’m a huge fan of this foundation, and that has almost nothing to do with the fact that it’s only about $10! If you’re looking for a great, new foundation (that just happens to be inexpensive!), definitely try out Revlon Colorstay Makeup!
