Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers Mascara

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 1

Hey y’all! Covergirl recently released their Super Sizer Fibers Mascara, and I wanted to share my thoughts on it with you.

According to Covergirl, “Discover 400% more volume and get the look of long, dark, amplified lashes with Super Sizer Fibers Mascara. Our specialized formula contains built-in fibers for the ultimate false-lash
extension effect.”

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 2

As you can see above, this mascara definitely adds length and volume to my otherwise light, short lashes. I’m not sure if I have “400% more volume,” as they claim, but my lashes are definitely more dramatic.

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 3

The wand has short curved bristles that wrap around the wand in a twisting formation. The idea is that you’re supposed to turn the wand as your brush it through your lashes. I think this helps deposit the product more evenly while separating your lashes. Using the twisting technique definitely improves this mascara application!

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 5

This mascara is very similar to the original Covergirl Super Sizer mascara, I previously reviewed. The wand is basically identical, and the formula seems the same with the addition of fibers for length. However, comparing the two, I think my lashes may actually look longer with the original version. YMMV. (Is that abbreviation common enough to use? Your Milage May Vary…let me know. Hahah)

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 6

This mascara is flake-free all day, yet it washes off easily with makeup remover. While my lashes look mostly separated in the close-ups below, it took quite awhile to get them that way. The short wand bristles pick up a lot of product and can make it a little difficult to keep your lashes from becoming clumpy. If perfectly separated lashes are your jam, this mascara isn’t for you.

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 7

I have only tried Very Black out of their four available colors. I have to ask, does anyone out there actually use Brown mascara? As a committed Blackest Black Black Black mascara fan, I’ve never even reached for anything but that!

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 8

Here, I paired my Super Sizer Fibers Mascara with Covergirl’s Perfect Point Plus eyeliner in Espresso. I know, brown liner right after I bashed brown mascara. Hah. In all fairness, I received this eyeliner for free, and it was my first time trying it. I have to say though, I was very pleased! It glided on smoothly, stayed put all day, and created a softer, daytime look.

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 9

I love these products together for daytime because the brown liner is softer than my typical black, and this mascara gives my lashes drama without going full glam. They just create a fresh, pretty look. (And yes, those are Mickey Mouse ears peeking into the bottom of the above photo. Like I said…not going full glam over here.)

Covergirl Super Sizer Fibers 10

Overall, I’m pretty pleased with Covergirl’s The Super Sizer Fibers Mascara. I would probably rate it 7 out of 10. It’s not the best mascara I’ve ever used, but the price, availability, and formula give it plenty of pros.

Have you tried it? What did you think?

Covergirl The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara

1

I’m breaking out of my Maybelline bubble, to blog about Covergirl’s New The Super Sizer by LashBlast Mascara in Very Black. I have been seeing this promoted everywhere lately, so I picked up a tube to try myself.

2.5

As you can see the wand is pretty unique. It is slender and the bristles are relatively short. The are attached in a sort of swirl, so you’re supposed to twirl the brush as you apply the mascara. I found the wand pretty easy to work with. It does take a little getting used to though.

2

It comes in 3 colors: Black Brown, Black, and Very Black. I always reach for the blackest mascara possible because I think it provides the most impact.

3

According to Covergirl, this mascara is supposed to provide “400% more corner-to-corner volume for full, fanned out lashes.” I think it mostly delivers.

4

My lashes definitely have more volume and length when I’m wearing this, BUT AT WHAT COST!? Hah, kidding. Drama aside, my lashes definitely clump when I’m applying The Super Sizer mascara, and the short-bristled, swirled brush isn’t the best tool for separating my lashes. Of course, if I work with it long enough, I can get it to work. However, other mascaras make clump-free lashes much more attainable.

5.5

Maybe to some people clumps equal volume? I much prefer separated lashes that are somehow volumized while remaining clump-free, but who am I to know what everyone wants?

5

The Super Sizer mascara is mostly flake-free, which is a plus. It doesn’t smear at all even in the heat, which is nice as well.

6

I have noticed a little bit of eye irritation when wearing this mascara, even though it is ophthalmologist tested. However, that could be due to allergies or another factor, I just wanted to mention it in case anyone reading has super sensitive eyes. You may want to avoid this one.

7

Another pro of this mascara is the price. From what I’ve seen it runs around $2 cheaper than many other drugstore mascaras…usually around $5-$6 depending on the store.

8

Overall, I’d give this mascara about a 7/10. Is it fabulous enough to make me abandon being a Maybelline Babebelline and try to be a Covergirl? Nope, probably not. (Also Maybelline Babelline was gross, I’m sorry.)

9

If you’re in the market for a new drugstore mascara though, I’d feel comfortable recommending it!

10

Covergirl’s The Super Sizer Mascara is available online, at drugstores, and at many big box retailers. If you decide to try it, let me know what you think!

As always, thanks so much for reading!

Beauty Blurbs: L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara

0

Mascara is probably my favorite makeup item. I just think mascara is crucial for opening up my eyes and completing my makeup look. My favorite brand of mascara is typically Maybelline, but I recently branched out and tried L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara.

1

This mascara claims to separate and build lashes for bold volume. The wand is nothing spectacular or new. It’s a pretty “average” wand, if you will. The formula is pretty wet, and doesn’t contain any sort of lengthening fibers.

2

As you can see, whether from the formula or the brush, this mascara definitely DIDN’T separate my lashes. If anything, it made them clump some. I worked and worked with the brush to help separate them, but i’m not sure how much it helped.

3

Another complaint I have about this mascara is that it tended to flake and smear on me throughout the day. Granted, I first tested it in Houston, which is notoriously hot and humid. I have worn it since returning to San Antonio, and these issues have not been quite as bad, but it is definitely worth mentioning. My mom wears this mascara as well, and she has complained of similar things.

4

As I stated, the formula is pretty wet, so I had to wait quite a bit of time between coats. I am wearing two coats in all of these pictures, and when I’ve tried to wear three, it simply becomes too clumpy. While this isn’t the worst mascara I’ve ever tried, I definitely think there are better drugstore options available.

5If you need to build a lot of volume for your lashes and you aren’t afraid of some clumping, feel free to give the L’Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara a try!

Beauty Blurbs: ck one mascara Review

1header

Okay, I’m sure you’re all starting to think the only thing I care about is mascara after my recent posts. I promise I use other makeup though. 🙂 In fact, I have another Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain review coming up soon! Today, I wanted to share a review about ck one mascara.

I received an email from Ulta with a coupon for a free tube of ck one mascara for my birthday! If you ever shop at Ulta, I’m going to go ahead and recommend you join their rewards program. Every week I get coupons for either 20% off my purchase or $3.50 off a purchase of $10 or more. It’s not always a huge discount, but something is better than nothing! You can also occasionally redeem points for free products based on how many you’ve accumulated. And apparently for your birthday, you also get a special surprise!2packaging

I was excited to find out this was for a full tube of ck one mascara, valued at $18. The color I received was Black, which was perfect as that’s what I would have chosen! They do also have a blue one (along with other colors), which could be fun on occasion! The packaging was so sleek; I loved it. One thing to note however, is the black half of the tube is matte. This could cause some annoying fingerprints if it comes in contact with other makeup similar to NARS packaging. It’s not a huge deal to me, but it’s worth noting if that bothers anyone.3packaging

According to the box, the “multi-look brush expands or contracts for on-demand volume, length and definition.” The most unique thing about ck one mascara is definitely the wand.4wand

It can be left straight or by twisting the top of the lid the brush curves and contracts. It’s great for anyone who prefers one type of brush over the other. I alternated with both styles, and I didn’t notice too great of a difference in application. Some people may though, depending on your lashes or style of application.5straighttwisted

I wasn’t expecting much, but after one coat, I was happily surprised. The mascara was easy to apply and went on very smoothly. I don’t think it added much volume, but my lashes were definitely longer and more defined.6onecoat

My second coat definitely added more volume and a little more length. It is also worth noting that I had trouble swiping the wand through my lashes for the second coat. It kept catching and was almost impossible to work through the roots of my lashes. I typically prefer to let my mascara dry some between coats, and that caused a slight issue with this mascara. Perhaps in the future I will try adding my second coat immediately. 7twocoats

Here you can see a side by side comparison of one versus two coats. One coat is definitely a softer look. I think if I applied a second coat immediately, it would eliminate some of the clumping. I really loved how well the tiny bristles accentuated my bottom lashes.8onecoattwocoats

Another issue I had with the wand was some residue on my lids after the second coat. I’m sure most of that is just due to “user error,” but I typically don’t have that issue with wands with longer bristles (ironically?). Another thing to note is that my eyes were slightly irritated at the end of the day. There is currently lots of pollen in my area, so it may be due to that. I haven’t tested this mascara again to be sure though, so I figured I’d mention in just in case anyone experiences similar issues or has very sensitive eyes.9

Overall, I have to say, I’m very pleased with the ck one mascara. At $18, I’m not sure if I’d buy it again over my $5-6 drugstore mascara, though. It’s definitely fun to try out new mascaras, but if it’s coming out of my own pocket I’m more hesitant to splurge. IMG_2305

I was happy to try out this birthday surprise from Ulta though! Anytime something is FREE, I’m a happy camper!woohooIf your makeup budget isn’t very strict, I’d definitely recommend picking up ck one mascara to give it a try! Or, if you have a birthday coming up, make sure to sign up for Ulta’s Rewards program! I’m not sure if this is their “free gift” in every region or not, but you’re sure to get something fun!

Thanks for stopping by, and I promise I’ll branch out from mascara reviews soon! 😉

Beauty Blurbs: Maybelline Falsies Mascara Review

1

Hey everyone! Time for another mascara review! As I said before, mascara is my fave beauty product. In this review, I want to talk about my all-time favorite mascara: Maybelline Falsies Mascara in Very Black (as always). I’m no makeup professional, so the ability to get a false lash look without potentially glueing my eyelids shut is pretty thrilling to me.2

This mascara contains fibers that cling to your lashes similar to other lash primers and more expensive products to give a lengthening and volumizing effect. Maybelline claims it increases lash visibility by 300%, and while I have no clue how they reached that statistic it definitely makes mine more apparent…maybe by 245%? 😉 3

Surprisingly, considering the fibers, there is little-to-no flaking, which is always a plus. Also, this mascara does not dry out quickly. It’s great quality for a mascara under $5! Considering the price and lasting value, I never hesitate before swiping on a second coat.4

The wear is great, too. Even after running errands all day, my luscious, non-fake falsies are still intact! Much better than dealing with false lashes coming unglued and dangling into your eye like a restless caterpillar. 5If you’re a fan of drugstore beauty products (and their prices!) like me, definitely grab a tube of Maybelline Falsies Mascara next time you make a run to the store! Or just get one online, here!
