Mason Jar Summer Flowers Bouquet

Anyone who knows me, knows I love flowers. I can’t go into H-E-B without stopping by their floral department, and I rarely ever leave empty-handed! We’re officially one week into summertime, so lately I’ve been wanting vibrant, yellow bouquets to brighten up my home. Luckily for me, the Lone Star Living June bouquet satisfies all of my summer flower requirements! This post was sponsored by Lone Star Living, and I am thrilled to share their beautiful blooms with you!

Lone Star Living Summertime Bouquet

Let me back up and tell you more about Lone Star Living. They share their love of Texas by crafting unique and dynamic bouquets that fit perfectly into any celebration from cookouts to birthdays to simply treating yourself on a weekly H-E-B trip. 😉 Speaking of H-E-B, Lone Star Living knows where loyal Texans shop, so they sell their fresh flowers there exclusively! Every month, they create a new bouquet theme that perfectly highlights the season.

Sunflower Lone Star Living June Bouquet

For the first month of summer they combined sunflowers, alstroemerias, and more to create a yellow and green explosion of summertime fun! Their flower style stands out in the floral department, where their bouquets are sold in fun, craft paper packaging. I love that everything you need to make a vibrant centerpiece is already grouped together for you. They even include the flower food!

Once you get home, it’s easy to get your summer flowers prepped for display. All you have to do is remove any unwanted leaves, trim the stems at an angle, twist and fluff your bouquet, and place it in a vase that has fresh water and the included flower food. Lone Star Living also recommends placing your bouquet near sunlight. If you need extra flower care tips, feel free to check out their website as well.

As you can see, Lone Star Living bouquets easily brighten up any space and help bring the beauty of summertime inside! Utilizing all of the recommended tips, my fresh flowers are still looking perfect and are bringing me so much joy. February Favorites!

header

It’s March! What?! I’m excited for springtime colors and (hopefully) pretty weather, but I’ll miss boots, hoodies, and chili!  Today marks March 1st along with the end of February, so I wanted to share a few of my February Favorites with y’all…

Disneyland: I haven’t really talked about it much here, but Louis and I went to Disneyland again from February 6-10, and it was so fun! We spent 3.5 days at the park enjoying rides, sharing ice cream, and meeting characters. I also got my first two pairs of Mickey ears! Spending all summer there made it feel like “home,” so we were happy to visit again. Now we have equal love for the Disney Resorts on both coasts! Guess we need to go to some international parks now? 😉 I need to post some trip recaps soon!

4 3 2 1

The Monuments Men: We were so excited for The Monuments Men to come out this February, but it didn’t get very good reviews (scoring only 34% on Rotten Tomatoes). Thankfully, we decided to risk it anyway, and I’m so happy we did! It was funny, emotional, and (loosely) based on a great, true story. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re a fan of Clooney, Damon, Murray & Goodman! My only criticism would have been more Bill Murray screen time because his character was pretty hilarious (as always)!

Revlon Matte Balm in Sultry & Standout:  I’ve already blogged my love for Revlon’s new(ish) Matte Balms, but I seriously loved wearing them this month. I even went against my better judgement and wore Standout to substitute for Middle Schoolers. Sultry has been my go-to everyday lip product because it packs just enough of a punch to be dramatic without making me look stupid. So..yay for that.

Nalgene: This one’s kind of silly, but I’ve been using my favorite Nalgene a lot more lately. I’ve always been a big water drinker, but this post, on Sweat Stretch Eat encouraged me to drink even more and keep track of how much I drink to ensure I get enough each day. Since my Nalgene is 32 oz, it’s easy to keep track of exactly how much I’ve consumed. Plus, since it has a screw on lid, it’s easy to carry around with me. And that bright orange? Love. I snagged mine at Target for under $10, and they have tons of great colors if you’re interested!

Chevron Ombré Tile: I snagged this Chevron Ombré Tile at Target on the clearance rack at the beginning of February to add to our bedroom for $9! It’s still listed at $19.99 on their website, and I could only find a tiny white-on-white ding on mine, so I was psyched! It matches our bedroom wall perfectly, and Lou said it’s his new favorite thing in our room, so I’d say that’s a success. It’s much more vibrant in person, but you know I had to add that Instagram filter.

Downton Abbey: Another season of Downton Abbey has come and gone (everyone in the UK is like…uh, ya, we know.) much too quickly. I look forward to this show every week, and my favorite thing may just be the costuming…or the accents. I’ve started saying the words blueberry, strawberry, and spoon with a British accent for some insane reason (I’m not making this up unfortunately), and I can only assume it’s due to this show. My one, very serious, qualm is how short the seasons are! I’m sure it costs about $1.7 million (uhh..or pounds?) to produce each historically accurate (maybe?) episode, but come on. We need at LEAST 12 episodes a season. Please producers, listen up. Give us more Downton.

Super Nintendo: Yes, you read that correctly. My hubbs is a computer genius (not exaggerating), and he bought this mega-cheap computer (I think it was like $25?) called a Raspberry Pi (it’s the cute little rainbow box below) several months ago (could I have had any more parenthesis in this sentence? So sorry.). He’s used it for various projects here and there, but this month he made the incredible decision to turn it into a video game console. We can now download and play virtually any video game from the original Nintendo up to a Playstation 1. I’m not much into current video games, but Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 were my jam back in the day. He can also download old school arcade games. We bought a USB Super Nintendo controller off Amazon, and I’m pretty sure we’ve played almost every day since he set it up. Our current fave is Diddy’s Kong Quest, since we beat Donkey Kong Country. Of course, Mario has to sneak in every once in awhile, too. I really can’t get enough of it. Talk about cheap entertainment.

Hope y’all’s Februarys were amazing, and you’re ready to jump into spring!

Smells Like Fall!

Smells Like FallY’all. A big part of me wants to keep these a secret, so I can hoard them ALL. I always thought Bath & Body Works was just good for cheap anti-bacterial hand gels and fruity body sprays for 11-year olds. My, how I was mistaken. For the past year or so, I have been purchasing their foaming hand soaps when they’re on sale, because they’re my husband’s favorite kind of soap. Their wide range of scents are always fun to peruse, but I never branched out much more. THAT was before I discovered their candles. Oh. My. Goodness. Gracious. Seriously. RUN. Don’t walk, to buy 3 or more of them. Here are my 2 favorite scents right now…

CandlesFirst, let’s chat about Marshmallow Fireside. The description on the bottom of the candle says, “Celebrate the changing season with a warm blend of toasted marshmallows, smoldering woods and creamy vanilla reminiscent of a cozy evening ’round the bonfire.” Is that image alone not enough to make you want this heavenly wax miracle? If not, then you’re crazy. Personally this candle makes me want to be wearing leggings with fuzzy socks and an oversized sweater decorating the Christmas tree while A Charlie Brown Christmas album plays in the background. (Another immediate “must buy,” if you don’t have it in your music collection)

Marshmallow FiresideSecondly, is Leaves, which is probably my favorite of the two. Its description states, “Celebrate the brilliant colors of autumn with this rich blend of golden nectar, red apple and spiced berries.” Now, we all know in Texas, the “brilliant colors of autumn” are green and brown. Woo. However, don’t let that sway you from buying this scented piece of joy. When I burn this (basically every day…), all I want to do is put on my comfiest sweats, curl up with my softest blanket by a lamp, and reread Harry Potter while listening to a thunderstorm. This candle is basically coziness in wax form. Also, apparently burning candles makes me want to dress like a frumpy slob.

Leaves

I’m sure after these glowing descriptions you’re like, “Woah, Ali. What are these candles going to set me back?” Don’t fret! The large 3-wick versions pictured here are $20 each. However, I snagged them up at a 2 for $22 sale (a savings of $18!!!). Bath and Body Works often has great promos like this, or you can buy smaller versions for less money. They are currently selling their mason jar candles (who doesn’t love a good mason jar?) 2 for $15 and their mini candles 3 for $10. At almost 50 scents, I’m sure you’ll be able to find the perfect one for your home! They are said to burn 25-45 hours, so don’t be stingy and only burn them when you have company over. Enjoy them whenever you want!!!

Why are you still sitting here? Go buy some candles, crazy!

The Tour de 5107

Besides a few extra touches, I think it is safe to say, “I AM FINALLY DONE DECORATING OUR APARTMENT!” Yay! I hope Louis doesn’t hold me to that statement…I do take after my mom by having an eagerness to constantly redecorate. That being said, I am very content and happy with how our apartment looks and feels now!

The sun shining on our bottom unit!

As soon as you enter our apartment, we have a combined living/dining/desk area…

Our dining/desk area!

We were so happy to do a “table swap” with my parents before we moved! They received our table to do an amazing breakfast room makeover, and they gifted us with this table! It fits so perfect in our space. The mirror was also something I snagged from the Bergstrom home 🙂 The small wall on the right was the perfect spot to display our Aggie Diplomas (whoop!), since it is right by the desk.

Our “entertainment center” is made up of 2 bookshelves and a TV stand from Ikea. I love Ikea furniture because it is well priced and they have so many different options for various combinations. Poor Louis hates building it all I’m sure, but when my parents visited they bought him an electric drill as an early birthday gift…I’m sure that helped speed up the process 🙂 The 3 maps behind our TV are crooked from my mom and represent important places in our relationship (where we met, College Station, and Disney World). Our next big purchase will hopefully be a bigger TV to fill the wall space! I’m still playing around with our bookshelves, and I hope to add some picture frames soon! (Louis probably thinks that’s silly and that we should fill the shelves with more books :)).

This is where we spend most of our evenings 🙂 My favorite things in this room are our Pottery Barn lamps! They were a very generous wedding gift, and I love the warmth they bring to our living room! The mercury glass mixed with the burlap shades brings a classy, cozy feel. The moss letters were made for our wedding by Louis’s dad, so I purchased a gold ampersand (with a coupon!) and the black frame (90% off!) from Hobby Lobby to display them behind the couch. I love a good framed initial, and I love how this turned out! Granted, it is crooked, but after the 4th nail hole on the right side, I just decided to leave it. So sue me.

Although, I am a pretty atrocious cook, I do love our kitchen! The tile backsplash, granite counters, and cabinet color are right up my alley. Fun fact: While I was hanging the ‘G’ in LANG, the ‘N’ fell off the wall and into my container of nails causing them to explode all over the kitchen while I was balancing on one of our dining table chairs. After this incident, Louis forbid me from standing on any chairs…

We JUST finished our bedroom today, and I could not love it any more. Louis helped me paint last night, and I hung the wall decorations today. The final picture is the closest representation to the wall color in real life. It is so fresh and calm; I love it!!!

Our bathroom is nothing crazy…I do love that we have a double vanity though! Also, there is a frosted window in our shower, which I like because the sun shines in and warms my body wash and shampoo. 🙂 Side note: Our rugs are Microdry Memory Foam Rugs in gray from Bed Bath & Beyond, and they are like heaven for your feet.

I hope you enjoyed the tour! Come visit some time! 🙂
